20 January 2016: GL Assessment is bringing leading educational experts together at Bett 2016 to help give teachers much needed clarity following the removal of National Curriculum levels.
Throughout the show, teachers will have the opportunity to hear a programme of over 15 presentations, including Jonathan Bishop, the headteacher at Broadclyst Community Primary School, Luke Bowers, the director of data strategy at Ormiston Academies Trust and independent SEN consultant, Lorraine Petersen. They will answer questions such as ‘how can good assessment enable creativity in the classroom?’ and ‘how do you identify barriers to learning?’ through to providing practical ideas for implementing digital assessment.
GL Assessment’s in-house team of assessment experts will also be on hand to offer ideas of how to best use their new assessment freedoms successfully in a post-levels world.
Talking about the need for clarity, Greg Watson, Chief Executive of GL Assessment said: “In the last 18 months, we’ve seen the introduction of the new national curriculum and the removal of levels, which has meant a somewhat challenging time for teachers. As schools discover how to move forward with their new freedoms, there are some lingering misconceptions as to what a life without levels should look like. Our aim is to help teachers clarify what good assessment looks like and how they can achieve this in their school effectively.”
In addition to the on-stand presentations, GL Assessment will also chair a panel on ‘Life after levels – three different perspectives’ with Luke Bowers, director of data strategy at Ormiston Academies Trust and Jonathan Bishop, the headteacher at Broadclyst Community Primary School as part of the School Leaders Summit at Bett on Wednesday, 20th January 2016 at 15:10. The panel session will offer those attending different perspectives on how you can use assessment effectively in a life after levels.
In addition, GL Assessment will showcase their award-winning range of assessments on the stand, including the Progress Test Series which has been shortlisted for a Bett Award.
