COVID-19: How we're supporting you

Following the recent developments surrounding COVID-19, we wanted to let you know how we can support you through this uncertain period.

Firstly, we’re still here. We appreciate you will have lots of decisions to make in school currently, and we would like to reassure you that we have continuity planning in place to ensure our service to you remains consistent over the coming weeks. We are very aware the situation is constantly changing, and want to work with you to minimise disruption.

We have a robust and secure infrastructure that allows remote access so that our team can work to support you. This is a key part of our contingency planning to mitigate risk to you, our customers, our employees and our partners. Our testing platform, Testwise, will also continue to be available during this period. Guidance will soon be available on how you can set up your pupils to take our assessments at home, should you need to do so.

We hope you stay safe and well, if you have any questions please contact us on 0330 123 5375 or email us at

Over the summer term, we will be hosting a series of webinars, including several live broadcasts on themes such as closing the language gap. Sign up here.

Is it possible to arrange for pupils to take assessments at home?

If schools remain closed until the Autumn term, you may wish to consider remote online testing for your school. While our assessments were not originally designed to be taken at home, recreating testing conditions will allow students to complete the assessments to the best of their ability and schools will then be able to utilise the test results to inform decisions about learning in these challenging times. To support the process, we have produced extensive test administration information for schools, parents and students.

This option is available for certain assessments only – namely the Progress Test Series, New Group Reading Test, New Group Spelling Test, and certain one-to-one assessments, including the York Assessment of Reading for Comprehension (YARC), the Phonological Assessment Battery (PhAB), the British Picture Vocabulary Scale (BPVS) and WellComm. If you would like to discuss the possibility of remote online testing for your school, please contact us on 0330 123 5375 or
